Best Panoramic View of Paris

The view of the rooftops of Paris fascinates me about as much as seeing the Eiffel tower to sparkle: it's sort of timeless classics, no matter how many years you have spent living in Paris, or how many times you've already seen in, these things keep their special magic forever. In today's post,  I put together some of places open to public (and often free) from where you can enjoy the view over the rooftops of Paris.

Вид на крыши Парижа завораживает меня примерно так же, как вид мерцающей башни: сколько бы ты лет здесь не жил, сколько бы раз не видел, некоторые вещи способны сохранять в себе магию и не превращаться в банальность. В сегодняшнем посте я собрала все "общедоступные" места (зачастую бесплатные),  с которых можно полюбоваться Парижем сверху вниз.

Galeries Lafayette , 40 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009 Paris (Free)

From the terrace on the 7th floor of the Galeries Lafayette department store you'll get a beautiful view over Opera Garnier, the rooftops of Paris and the Eiffel tower of course. Freshly renovated Ice Cube bar offers you not only a view but also a glass of wine/champagne.

С терассы на 7-м этаже Galeries Lafayette на бульваре Османн открывается прекрасный вид на Оперу, Эйфелеву башню и крыши Парижа. А еще здесь есть обновленный бар Ice Cube, если вы хотите насладиться панорамой с бокалом вина или коктейлем.

Terrasse de Printemps , 64 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009 Paris (Free)

In fact, the large terrace on the 9th floor of Printemps department store is still under renovation works, but if you are lucky enough you can sneak to the terrace of the food court at Printemps du Gout situated on the 8th floor. Why "sneak"? Because sometimes, especially during the busy lunch hours they put a sign "only for restaurant guests". So to get there, try to avoid the lunch hours and be there between 11:00-13: 00, or after 14 hours.

На самом деле сама терасса на 9 этаже пока на ремонте, но с фудкорта на 8 этаже можно попасть на открытый балкон одного из ресторанов Printemps du Gout: правда иногда они ставят табличку "только для посетителей ресторана", поэтому чтобы с большей вероятностью попасть на терассу, старайтесь прийти вне-обеденное время, между 11:00-13:00, или после 14 часов.

Institut du Monde Arabe , 1 Rue des Fossés Saint-Bernard, 75005 Paris (Free)

A spacious and almost always empty terrace of the Institut du Monde Arabe on the Left Bank offers outstanding view over La Seine river, pretty architecture of Ile St Louise and a stunning view of Cathedral de Notre Dame de Paris.

Просторная и почти всегда пустая терасса Института Арабского мира на Левом берегу. С нее открывается прекрасный вид на Сену, кажущиеся игрушечными домики острова Сен Луи и, конечно же, Нотр Дам.

Parc des Buttes Chaumont (Free)

A huge park in the north of Paris: it is rare to meet tourists there but on a sunny day the park is filled with picnicking Parisians. You will definitely not miss the highest point of the garden which can be seen from any point of it, the stone alcove situated on the hill in the middle of the lake in the park. From there the view is beautiful: you can see the Sacré-Coeur Cathedral on Montmartre and the roofs of the nearby buildings.

Огромный парк на севере Парижа, здесь редко встретишь туристов, зато в солнечный день парк наполнен пикникующими парижанами. Здесь нужно подняться в каменную беседку на холме в парке (вы ее не пропустите, это самая высокая точка сада, которую видно отовсюду). Оттуда открывается вид на Собор Сакре-Кер на Монмартре и крыши ближайших зданий.

Parc de Belleville (Free)

To be honest, I discovered this location in the moment of doing my researches for this article, but apparently Parc de Belleville is a beautiful place: the highest parc of the city with breathtaking view over the Eiffel tower.

Если честно, то я сама узнала о парке Бельвиль только в момент подготовки этого поста. Оказывается Parc de Belleville -  это самый высокий парк в Париже, с которого открывается захватывающих дух вид на город и башню.

Palais de Tokyo (corner Av. du President Wilson & rue de la Manutention)

It is not quite a panoramic view and it is not exactly from Palais de Tokyo (Museum of Modern Art). But from that small corner of Av. du President Wilson and rue de la Manutention, in two steps from Palais de Tokyo, you have an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower, looking out from behind the roof of the nearest building.

Это не совсем панорамный вид, и плюс он не совсем с музея современного искусства, Palais de Tokyo здесь скорее служит ориентиром. Но с маленького клочка улицы (пересечение Av. du President Wilson и rue de la Manutention), вам откроется потрясающий вид на Эйфелеву башню, выглядывающую из-за крыши ближайшего дома.

Notre Dame de Paris (€, book your ticket before you come)

One of the my favorite panoramas of the city, probably also because I've been there just a couple of times: in fact, the number of people allowed on the towers of Notre Dame is limited (this is one of the oldest buildings in Paris, Notre Dame is over 850 years old!) so the access on the top is not that fluid. You have to book your ticket in advance to go up to the towers, there are two ways you can do this:- Remotely via the JeFile application, downloadable free of charge on Appstore and Googleplay, accessible every day from 7.30am.- On site, using the terminals: print a paper ticket or enter your mobile number and your visit time will be sent to you by text.

Одна из самых любимых панорам на город, наверное еще и потому, что бываю там нечасто: количество людей на башнях собора ограничено, что определенно затягивает доступ на самый верх. Но вид оттуда неописуемый: Эйфелева башня, Сена, гаргульи. С недавнего времени вход на башни возможен только по предварительной резервации: забронировать билет вы можете либо через  бесплатное приложение JeFile, либо на месте, через терминал у входа в Нотр-Дам (боковой вход на башни), нужно ввести свой номер телефона и подтверждение будет выслано по смс.

Arc De Triomph (€ / Free for -26 y.o.)

From the top of the Arc De Triomph opens a wonderful panorama over place d'Etoile and its multiple rays of avenues including the Champs Elysees. I think that the best would be to go up there for the sunset: Arc De Triomph is open till very late and the view over the city's lightening lights under the pastel colors of the sky is so charming!

С крыши триумфальной арки открывается чудесная панорама на площадь Этуаль, с расходящимися лучами от нее авеню (в том числе и Елисейчкие поля) и на Эйфелеву башню. На мой взгляд, особый шарм поднятся на арку в конце дня и насладиться пастельными закатными тонами и загорающимися огнями города.

Pantheon  Place du Panthéon 75005 Paris, (€ / Free for -26 y.o.)

The ambition behind the Pantheon was to outdo the churches of St. Peter's in Rome and St. Paul’s in London.  The monumental peristyle was inspired by the Pantheon commissioned by Agrippa in Rome. Today, you can not only visit the crypt of the eminent personalities who shaped France's national identity but also from April to October, visit the highest parts of the building and go up to its rooftop.

Грандиозное здание Пантеона сегодня - это крипт и могила величайшим умам французской нации: здесь похоронены Пьер и Мария Кюри, Руссо, Вольтер, Александр Дюма. А с апреля по октября, можно подняться на крышу Пантеона (визит возможен в определенные часы и только группой), откуда открывается вид на старейшие части города, в том числе крыши латинского квартала, Нотр Дам, Люксембургский сад и Эйфелеву башню.

Tour Montparnasse Montparnasse 56, 33 avenue du Maine 75015 Paris (€) 

The least favorite Parisian building of mine, this huge block of black glass in the middle of the city, Montparnasse tower offers however one of the most gorgeous 360 degrees views over Paris. From its top of 210 m, you can enjoy the view of the city 365 days in a year (which is almost never a case for the most of tourist spots that are usually closed at least on 25th of December and 1st of January).

На огромную черную глыбу стекла, возвышающаюся над Парижем башню Монпарнасс стоит подняться, чтобы хотя бы не видеть ее саму. Но на самом деле с панорамной крыши башни открывается прекрасный вид на город и... на Эйфелеву башню, как на ладони.
